Season 13 saw us race up into division 3, on the back of incredible time trialist Sebastian Quander. Releasing the 33 year old, left us stranded in division 3 without a team strong enough to compete. While waiting to drop points, We signed Saud Abdul-Nasser, a trained 84 Sprinter, to join Connaught founder rider Montage Sandifer, who had maxed his training.
Season 14 started with Connaught back in Division 7. With Sprinters strong enough to win on their own, we split into 3 teams.
Nasser enjoyed 4 results in Div 6 & 7, with one win. Sandifer had 3 results and Adelaar a further 3 results with 2 wins.
Early in the season, we purchased Gabriel Gasco, unknown 22 year old Spanish sprinter with Good potential. Gasco was sent to training camp when funds were available and on Day 41 he had his first result – 7th in the Nardo-Nardo Divison 5 race.
We gained more results through Div 5 & 4 with the 3 sprint captains. Division 3 proved harder to gain results, so the squad was finally merged. Gasco had become the captain, but was inconsistent with results. A 3rd in the Stade-Stade was followed by a 2nd in the Santo Tome. We thought we had found our captain. But disappointing results were just around the corner. While in Top form, 14th in the Div 3 Alkmaar, and 20th in the Div 2 Vastervik GP lead us wondering if Gasco has what it takes to be a top sprinter.
Late in the season we picked up Hubert Wijk a dutch sprinter with a high average (47). He recorded a 2nd place finish in the Ponferrada Div 3 race.
Shimon Vandresser could be the future of Connaught racing. This very good young sprinter has had his training interrupted during the season, but is steadily developing into a promising talent. A high average will see a very good sprinter able to handle himself even in the hills.
